Advisory BoardJohn GeensenAdvisory Board ChairmanJohn Geensen has a long and distinguished career in the Treasury and Capital Markets areas of major international banks ranging from ABN AMRO to Citibank.
He is a former Member of the Joint Standing Committee for Foreign Exchange of the Bank of England. He has held senior management positions with these organizations and worked in all major financial centres of the world. Mr. Geensen is a former director and partner in Gilford Mill Ltd, Ireland and has been a member of a number of professional trade bodies. Prior to G24i, Mr. Geensen held the position of Global Managing Director of Treasury for Rabobank International in London. He was responsible for the treasury activities of all 15 offices in the international network. He has also held positions of Chief of Staff and Executive Director for Lehman Brothers and County Treasurer for Citibank N.A, responsible for all Treasury activities in France and The Netherlands. Mr. Geensen has previously acted as Head of Foreign Exchange and Money Markets for Texas Commerce Bank and Former Chief Dealer Foreign Exchange and Manager of the International Client Desk of Bank of America, responsible for Interbank Trading of the West Coast International Headquarters. Damian MillerChief Executive Officer, Orb EnergyMr. Miller has over 10 years experience in the solar photovoltaic industry and is former Director of Rural Operations for Shell Solar.
He launched the solar business in India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, and China, where he oversaw the sale of more than 125,000 systems. Mr. Miller developed partnerships with more than 20 banks in Asia to reach rural solar markets through commercial channels. He holds a doctorate from Cambridge in solar technology and emerging markets. Professor Shozo YanagidaOsaka UniversityProfessor Shozo Yanagida has over 40 years of experience in the fields of chemistry and engineering. He is one of the true pioneers of advanced research in Dye Photovoltaics and has conducted extensive work in the fields of Organic reaction, Photochemical conversions, solar light energy storage and Dye-sensitized metal oxide solar cells.
Holding a PhD in Engineering from Osaka University in Japan, Mr. Yanagida has had a distinguished career as a Professor at Osaka University and as a Guest Professor at the Kwansei Gakuin University and the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He is currently a Guest & Emeritus Professor at the Osaka University’s Center for Advanced Science and Innovation (CASI). He is also a Trustee of the Association for the Progress of New Chemistry - Japan and a member of both the Japan and American Chemical Society, The Society of Polymer Science, The Japanese Photochemistry Association, The Society of Synthetic Organic Chemistry - Japan, The Electrochemical Society of Japan and the International Microwave Power Institute. Professor Yanagida joined the G24i Advisory Board in April 2008. Professor Michael GraetzelEcole Polytechnique Fédérale de LausanneProf. Graetzel is best known for his development of the dye-sensitised nano-structured solar cell. Prof. Graetzel is author or co-author of over 500 publications, two books and inventor of over 50 patents; he ranks among the most highly cited scientists in the world. He has received numerous prestigious awards including the 2006 World Technology award, the 2000 European Millennium Innovation award, and the Faraday Medal of the British Royal Society of Chemistry, the Dutch Havinga award, the Italgas prize and the Gerischer medal of the Electrochemical Society. He received a doctor’s degree in natural science from the Technical University Berlin and honorary doctors degrees from the Universities of Delft, Uppsala and Turin. He is a member of the Swiss Chemical Society as well as of the European Academy of Science and was elected honorary member of the Société Vaudoise de Sciences Naturelles. Robert Swan2041.comRobert Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of the Antarctic wilderness and promoting recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of global warming. He was the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles and is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, and was Appointed Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO. Mr. Swan was awarded the Polar Medal by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and is a Council Member of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Daniel YoungPresident- Irvine Community Development CompanyAs President of Irvine Community Development Company, Mr. Young is responsible for all residential development on the Irvine Ranch. The Irvine Company is a 140-year old, privately held company known for the balanced, sustainable communities it has planned and developed on the Irvine Ranch in Orange County, California. His community involvement includes 11 years on the Santa Ana City Council, including eight years as mayor. Mr. Young has served on the board of directors of several regional agencies including the Metropolitan Water District and the Orange County Transportation Authority. |
