G24 Innovations is a company committed to sustainability – both in the products it makes and the way it manufactures those products. Our goal is to become the first manufacturing facility in the world to make renewable products solely through the use of renewable energy. This is more than just a ‘brochure aspiration’; it is a core value of the company that G24i is committed to delivering. The company also has plans to develop on onsite environmental learning centre (the “Environmental Futures Centre”), to not only showcase G24i’s own products but a whole array of renewable energy technologies and approaches to energy sustainability.
Typical silicon solar cells take years to pay back the energy that is used in their production. Typically, this energy is derived from fossil fuel power stations and the overall positive impact of those solar panels is therefore greatly reduced. DYE SENSITIZSED THIN FILM as a technology is a significant improvement on traditional silicon-based solar cells in that its energy payback is measured in months instead of years. Nonetheless, the manufacturing process is energy intensive, requiring large amounts of electricity to transform the raw materials into a finished roll of DYE SENSITISED THIN FILM.
G24i has been researching the options for onsite power generation to enable the goal of carbon neutral manufacturing.
On Site Clean Power Generation
G24i has recently received planning approval for a multi-megawatt wind turbine to be installed onsite. The wind turbine has the potential to meet a majority of G24i’s power demand, significantly contributing towards the company’s goal of carbon neutral manufacturing. Locating the turbine where the power is needed means that minimal electricity will be lost in transmission. The clean, renewable power will go towards meeting the electricity needs of G24i.
The wind turbine will also serve as the showpiece of the planned Environmental Futures Centre, offering a “hands on” education for students and the wider community on the importance and benefits of renewable energy.
