When used in conjunction with G24i’s technology, the Texas Instruments boost converter will increase G24i’s efficiency by up to 80 percent in comparison to a linear regulator.
Richard Costello, Chief Operating Officer of G24i said, "The combination of Texas Instruments advance IC Technology with G24i, the world’s most efficient indoor converter of light to electricity, provides a low cost, elegant turnkey power and management solution for our global OEM customers."
The Texas Instruments converter boosts voltage from as little as one PV cell up to six times its original voltage which makes the energy harvesting application more efficient than any similar product on the market today.
G24i is collaborating with over 40 Global OEMs to bring to market a new family of autonomous, self powering, energy efficient electronic devices such as remote controls, wireless keyboards, sensors, ePaper displays, mobile telephones and GPS systems.
Quote from Texas Instruments Oct 24, 2011 press release:
"Wireless sensor networks have been limited in their penetration due to the cost associated with maintaining and replacing the batteries within sensor nodes," said Sami Kiriaki, senior vice president over TI's Power Management business. "With the bq25504 boost charger, the nodes can power autonomously, which can reduce the operating cost and thereby make ultra low-power wireless sensor networks cost-effective in more applications, such as industrial monitoring of hazardous or restricted areas."
