Features of Talisker
Talisker has a unique aroma of peppery spice and smokiness. It is a single malt whisky with a well-balanced flavor that has a sweet aftertaste with a sense of heaviness and a fruity sourness like dried fruit.
Another important point is the 45.8% alcohol content of this whisky. Talisker 10 Year Old, which is considered to be a standard bottle, is known as a popular single malt with an excellent balance between price and taste.
Talisker’s Production Process
Talisker is made in a “washback” fermentation tank made from Brazilian Paranian pine. In addition, multiple water sources in the vicinity of the distillery are used for the brewing water. It features the use of six washbacks with a capacity of approximately 55,000 liters.
After fermentation, the distillation is distilled twice in a pot still, which brings out the flavor of the malt and gives it a crisp, refreshing taste. After distillation, the wine is aged in American oak barrels from North America.
Recently, there are also brands that use port wine barrels, and various types of Talisker are available, so if you’re interested, check them out.
History of Talisker
Talisker’s distillery was founded in 1830 on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands. Since then, Talisker has been distilled at Carbost, which is located at Loch Harport in Isle of Skye, and it is a historical whisky.
Talisker was originally distilled three times, using two wash stills and three spirit stills, but now only two distillations are used to capture the flavour of the malt.
We still use two types of pot stills, a straight head type and a ball type, as a remnant of the three-times distillation process. The old style is still used to this day.

It is recommended to drink it straight or with a highball for a refreshing drink. If you want to try Talisker, this is the perfect bottle for you.

In the mouth, you can feel a thick sweetness like honey all over, and the key point is that the faint fruity aroma leaves your nose. It has a complex, deep and addictive taste, accentuated by Talisker’s characteristic spicy flavor. Talisker 30 years old
At over 30 years of age, Talisker 30 Year Old, the longest of the current crop, is characterized by its ability to age for a long time, which has made it less peculiar in taste. It is a relatively easy to drink bottle among Talisker breweries.
There is a faint scent of seawater, with a harmonious combination of rocky and smoky flavors. It has a sweetness that spreads slowly, with a hint of saltiness, astringency, and peppery spiciness.

Talisker has a strong smoky, peppery abd spicy flavor. If you want to take your time to enjoy its natural flavors and aromas, we recommend that you drink it straight. Each sip contains a chaser, which allows for a deeper taste and aroma.
Another characteristic of Talisker is that the sweetness of the water is accentuated by the addition of water. By “rocking” the chilled glass with ice, you can enjoy the gradual melting of the ice and the change in flavor.
In addition, pouring the same amount of water and whiskey into a glass “Twice Up” dilutes the alcohol and allows for a deeper taste of Talisker’s original flavor. And the “Highball” – a glass of Talisker and sparkling water poured into a glass of ice – adds a refreshing touch to the mellow aroma.
We also recommend the Talisker Spicy Highball, a 10-year old Talisker highball sprinkled with black pepper and served unmixed. The uneven balance of flavors is addictive and can be enjoyed as an aperitif or sipping drink. Try it for yourself.
